Being married to Philip Dunn means that Carole may be asked, for instance, to haul deckchairs to remote and windswept locations on the beach, and then guard them with her life, while he runs about, in a creative frenzy, shouting unclear commands from afar. In this painting, she has been told to just stand there and look beautiful, which, of course, she does with her usual aplomb.
