FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you have any quesitons about my paintings, how to order, framing, etc, hopefully we've answered your queries below. If not, please do get in touch with us and we'll be very happy to help.
What is a Giclée Reproduction?
Giclée, (pronounced "jeeclay"), was hitherto just a French word meaning spurted, that was not much used in polite company. Now, however, it is the name applied to a state-of-the-art type of ink jet printing, which uses a large array of light-fast, pigment based inks on acid free paper or specially prepared canvas. Colour rendition is exceptionally accurate and the process is so adaptable that images can be printed practically any size required, from "postage stamp" to "mural" and in any number, from one to infinity and, of course, beyond.

How do I buy your paintings?
Go to my Gallery and click on the picture you wish to purchase. They can be sorted in alphabetical order. Where the Original is available, it will be labelled 'ORIGINAL'. The same for 'LIMITED EDITIONS'. Reproductions can also be purchased and you will have the option to choose size and frame in the shopping page. Simply select your preference using the 'options' menu and 'Add to Basket'.
Can I see your paitings in person?
Yes absolutely! You're welcome to visit us at Window Gallery.
Sending orders overseas
a. How do you send prints overseas?
We are sorry, but we cannot send framed pictures abroad. They are sent unframed, in a postal tube, for you to arrange framing locally to you. P&P for framed items is too expensive to be practical. The cost of sending unframed prints abroad is £10.
b. How do you send canvasses overseas?
The same as prints: in a tube. Stretchers are very heavy, and impractical to post abroad, so canvasses would need to be stretched after receipt, and framed if required.
c. How do you send original paintings overseas?
As above, as for canvasses, but we advise that the item be insured by you whilst in transit.
Can you deliver my print/painting by hand?
Yes, usually, but only within a 15 mile radius from Philip's Ditchling Gallery. (BN6 8GT). Please enquire about this.
How do you post items within the UK?
We can send small and medium pictures, framed, with glass.
Large prints will have acrylic glazing if outside the local delivery area.
Canvases, stretched and framed, can be sent to almost anywhere in Great Britain.
I bought a Philip Dunn picture many years ago. What is it worth today?
We are sorry, but we cannot give valuations of Philip's previously sold work. Our advice is to enquire at a reputable auction house.
Since I bought it many years ago, my picture has faded. Can I buy an exact replacement?
Prior to the introduction of Giclée printing, all reproductions were offset photo lithographs. The only inks available were subject to fading. We no longer have stocks of these type of prints. All Philip's current Giclée prints are produced using Lightfast pigment-based inks on archival paper, or specially prepared canvas. They are therefore not subject to fading in the same way. However, pictures should not be displayed in direct sunlight.
