The end of the West Pier shimmers in the autumnal sunlight reflected off a restless sea. A stiff northerly wind blows the tops off the waves in a spray, which gives the painting its title. For the mechanically minded there is a play off between the two yellows here - Cadmium zinc sulphide (PY35) and Nickel titanate (PY53), which, with various blues and a Ferric oxide or two, give the painting its peculiar light.
