Fwd: The Spring Resprung

Hi again, at last,

I really don't know whether I should apologise for the tardiness of this blog or not. On the one hand, it might be considered polite by some. On the other, I know (and have known) a few people for whom sorry really does (or did) seem to be (or to have been) the hardest word. So, sorry but suffice it to say that, one way or another, I have been very busy with such things as...

...bluebells in the woods...

...occasional warm days...

...blossom in profusion...

...new life being given a chance...

...Arty seeing his approval ratings going up following his seasonal makeover...

...daisies in the lawn...

...the war not being over for Private Woods...

...buttercups in my field...

...surprisingly pretty flowers...

...even on the verge around the Turner Dumbrell Workshops, where I have my studio/gallery...

...where, throughout May, having recently painted this, "A Personal Point of View", I exhibited, as part of Brighton Artist's Open houses, not only there, but in Kemptown at the "Villa Studio" of Diana Garnier, depicted here on the left...

...and I produced this as a limited edition print...

...along with this, even though I did the paintings some 30 years ago.

As a result, I received.this classic example of irony...

...which unfortunately wasn't goldy, as I was on a shortlist of three but didn't win, and therefore could only have been either silvery or bronzy. This, despite being the longest serving Founder Member of the organisation that was appropriated unscrupulously by the very people who are now the judges of the competition. I can't help thinking that they wanted to acknowledge me but couldn't risk that i might make a speech in which I quoted extensively from Baldrick from Blackadder, as above.

Then Arty and I went off to France for the best part of four weeks, where the weather was wonderful, after the first few days, but the WiFi and broadband service remained so slow that I was forced to enjoy the sunshine with Arty instead. Pretty pictures to follow asap.

Love,

Philip Xx.
